Mayfair Clubs Welcomes New President
Irwin Tobias Succeeds Shirlee Vedder as President
Toronto, ON – May 26, 2010 – Mayfair Clubs is pleased to announce the appointment of Irwin Tobias as President of Mayfair Clubs. Irwin has been a part of Mayfair Clubs for over 35 years, with involvement in club management, tennis and special event programming and the organization of tennis tournaments on the provincial, national and international levels. Irwin succeeds Shirlee Vedder, who recently stepped down after 11 years as President and CEO of Mayfair Clubs.
Irwin brings with him a wealth of knowledge and experience in his new role. He has served on various Tennis Canada and Ontario Tennis Association committees over the years and is currently Chair of Tennis Canada’s senior committee and is on the Board of the Ontario Tennis Association. Irwin also developed the popular Wilson/Mayfair ITF Senior Circuit in 2002, which has been unprecedented in invigorating senior tennis competition.
“I am truly excited to have been given the opportunity to lead Mayfair into the future, particularly in the same year we celebrate our 40th anniversary,” says Irwin. “I look forward to working with the tremendous staff at Mayfair to ensure a smooth and natural transition and ensure that the members of Mayfair Clubs are as always, well served.”
