Product Focus - Selectorized Equipment
Simplify workouts by incorporating selectorized machines.
Every fitness facility has them. Those hard working, low maintenance weight-stack machines that are favourites of novices and heavy lifters alike.
Selectorized equipment is considered the strength training foundation of most facilities and for good reason: it’s simple to use, non-intimidating and easy to adjust for users of different heights and body shapes. Want to change the weight? Just pull the pin and replace it.
Low cost, long-term durability is another big part of their appeal, says Ed Cooper, a territory manager for The Fitness Source. “The top brands have low service requirements,” says Cooper whose typical corporate sale includes 60% to 70% selectorized pieces. “If you put a little lubrication on the guide rods and watch for corrosion from sweat, machines can last for 15 to 20 years with little maintenance,” says Cooper.
Seniors, deconditioned newbies and rehab patients are all a good match for selectorized equipment, advises Cooper. But it’s ideal for heavy lifters too. “You can make really quick transitions for drop sets and super sets. You just move the pin versus pulling off plates.”
Here are some examples of selectorized equipment that’s on the market today.

Keiser

Gas-assisted seat and pad adjustments are easy to use, and clearly marked adjustment handles simplify the set-up process. Full rear shrouds cover the weight stacks and add to the distinctive look (full front shrouds are optional). The units are engineered with superior biomechanics to ensure movements are comfortable and natural to the exerciser eliminating unwanted pressure to the joints.
